How to make your business stick out like a sore thumb – Be more Boyle

On 11 April 2009 a middle aged woman stepped on to a stage, to her audience there was nothing unique about her.  She wore a beige dress, had un-styled hair and if she wasn’t on a stage she’d have blended in to the room, probably the carpet. But then something amazing happened, she opened her mouth and belted out “ I dreamed a dream from Le Mis”

It became an iconic moment in British TV history and one that’ll give you shivers every time you watch it back.

 

But why?

Well Susan Boyle’s problem wasn’t her problem, it was ours the viewers.

We had a preconceived notion that this woman wasn’t anything special, anything different to the average person on the street simply because we couldn’t see what it was that made her so incredibly unique and wonderful.

She was a hidden gem, much like your business. Who’s voice had not been discovered by an audience.  In a world where everyone now has a stage to show off on,  they need to be more Boyle

 

But how? How can you stick out online and be more Boyle?

 

Well it’s simple, firstly you have to realise you’re good enough for the stage and then you need show the world exactly what it is that makes you different, makes you unique.

Like it or not the only real things that make your business unique are your customers, your team and your stories. Unless you’ve invented a teleportation device your products or services are probably offered by someone else. You need to take those stories and expertise out of the digital dungeon and put them on a stage.

On your website stage, on your social media stage in your email stage

You need to make videos with the sole aim of creating an unforgettable experience

You’ve got to produce videos that are better than the other online distractions, more useful than promotional and presented in a way which matches your brands tone and personalities.

Is this the right approach for your business?

If you’ve got an awareness problem you need this kind of content to amplify your current marketing. This doesn’t mean you’ll go viral, it’s a totally memorable touch point, and we need at least 7 to become noticed so a good one of these will count as three.
